DARK TIMES

In DARK TIMES, participating artists explore the overwhelming and Sisyphean nature of a society continuously compounded by existential crises.  Battered by wave after wave of humanitarian catastrophe, be it from Genocide, Pandemic or War — the foundational mythology of our democratic Western life is exposed as an increasingly meaningless and incoherent facade. As a terrifying predatory elite unveils the true mechanics of global power, our civilization seems left with little more than superficial comforts of new age spirituality as a coping mechanism for endless burnout and death spectacle.

Relying heavily on self-care manifestos that drive us deeper into self-important idolatry and further isolate us from each other, we project a facade of well-being into an algorithm that feeds our own demise, collectively unable to grasp the organization necessary to meet the gravity of the moment.

These artists wrestle with the feelings of hopelessness of our current era, by reflecting on the morose and often absurdist nature ofexisting within the imperial core.
